We don't believe that so called "black hat seo" techniques like cloaking is wrong in itself, it's like so many other things in life, it depends on how it is used.

If black hat seo tools are used to present the visitor/surfer with the information they were searching for then the tools has been put to a good use, not abused.

This is what we call Gray Hat SEO.

Why is Black Hat SEO considered unethical?

Simple.

Black Hat SEO tools like cloaking is too often abused to send the surfer/visitor to a web page or site that is totally unrelated to what they were searching for. For example unethical use of cloaking can result in a minor ending up on and adult oriented website, which we agree is wrong and should not be done.

The problem though is that Websites really fall in to two seperate and distinct categories.

First there are those sites that are designed simply to rank well in the search engine results, but due to the nature and competetiveness of search engine optimization, these sites don't tend to be well designed for the human visitor.

Second are the sites that are designed specifically for the human visitor or surfer, but these don't tend to do well in the searchengines.

This is where "black hat" seo tools like cloaking can be used for "Gray Hat" search engine optimization. It is possible to design a sitge specifically for the search engines, targetting relevant and specific keywords for your market, and then use the cloaking to redirect the visitor to a "human" friendly site that provides them with the information that is relevant to their original search.

Thus we are using black hat techniques to achieve a white hat seo result, hence the term "Grey Hat" SEO.
